Cyber bulling has always been a crucial issue, but finally people are putting more stress on the issue ever since Megan Meier, a teenager who due to cyber bullying, hung herself. (http://www.crn.com/networking/207800673;jsessionid=GGFMQHTYEAVURQE1GHPCKHWATMY32JVN for more information)I have been bullied myself online, and threatened by people countless of times. It seems that people feel safer making threats outside of school and online because they feel they cannot get into as much trouble. The schools should look into a rule of suspension for teens who cyber bully, but until then I think that people need to keep their distance from the drama created by social networks, especially MySpace.
I think cyber bullying, just like regular bullying, is very wrong. It is wrong becuase it is mean and it hurts people’s feelings and can lead to death or serious self-esteem problems. Often times, the people that are doing the bullying are very angry and resentful toward the person or people that are the ones being bullied.
Cyber-Bullying is dangerous, however it should not be a crime. It should be taken seriously and it does affect people’s happiness. Life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness are the rights given to EVERYONE at birth, and because Cyber-Bullying conflicts with these rights. Individuals should be responsible and proactive in their well-being and should take the necessary steps to prevent themselves from being Cyber-Bullied. We have rights to freedom of speech where we are allowed to share our opinions of others. For instance there are many blogs which directly insult government officials, organizations, companies, religions, and even classmates, but they are not against the law.
I beleive online bullying is a slow passing faze through society. Like anything else we know was stupid a while later, it will probably, for the most part, pass.Online or cyber bullying is just made so simple that people who want to gain access to a certian feeling of power or exceptance of those who see or hear what happend, etc. that they can bully in an enviroment where there is no immediate confrontation or much worry at all because they can do it from a place of comfort which is lacking in the real world alot of the time. That said you can possibly already see how much easier it is to take what they said or did so much harder. While being alone with the computer is easier for the bully to be as stated, a bully, it is also making it an enviorment easy for acting with out judgement making the person on the receiving end usualy act a bit less rash than usual. So in truth it may go away when people realize that it does more harm than good.
